THE PEOPLE

HONGLIN CUI

Architect, OAA, Leed AP

Licensed with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), Honglin Cui has 24 years of Canadian experience and 10 years of Chinese experience in architectural design and practice. Prior to coming to Canada, Honglin graduated from Tianjin University in China with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree in urban planning and design. After graduation, he worked in Dalian University of Technology in China for 10 years first as a lecturer, then associate professor for the Department of Architecture, while practicing as a design architect in the Architectural Design and Research Studio in Dalian University of Technology. In 1999, Honglin came to Canada and studied in the master’s architecture program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since then, he has spent 18 years working with several Canadian architectural firms, including Robbie/Young + Wright Architects, Kohn Architects, Diamond Schmitt Architects, and Chamberlain Architects. Through his involvement with multiple projects at these firms, Honglin has accumulated a broad range of professional experiences in all stages of architectural design, ranging from preliminary planning concept, to site plan application, building permit application, construction documents, and contract administration. He founded Broadview Architect Inc. in 2017 aimed at providing full architectural services for various types of residential, commercial and institutional projects.

YANG LI

Architect, CAA

Yang Li is a class one registered architect with the Chinese Association of Architects (CAA). Educated in Tianjin University and Tsinghua University in China, as well as the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom, he has worked in several prestigious architectural firms in China, the United Kingdom, and Canada; including the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, Terry Farrell & Partners in London, and The Kirkland Partnership Inc. in Toronto. In 2006, he founded KKL Partnership Architects in Beijing. Over the years, Yang has made major contributions to city revitalization and creative architectural design and practice. His works, which have appeared in Europe, North America, China, and the Middle East, focus on combining regional culture, contemporary lifestyle, and city fabrics through implementing refined and innovative architectural details. With extensive professional experience in urban design, urban complex projects, cultural parks, tourism parks, residential communities, high-end apartments, and hotels, Yang delivers technical, aesthetic, and sustainable solutions to cutting-edge services in urban and architectural design. Yang also is a member of judges in architectural competitions and architectural panels in Beijing, China.

CAROL JIN

Architect, OAA, Leed AP

Born and raised in Beijing, China, Carol came to Canada to continue her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies in 1992 and a Master of Architecture in 1994. She has been licensed architect with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) since 2001. Prior to settling in Toronto, she worked in different cities such as Vancouver, Hong Kong, San Francisco and St. John to broaden her professional and life experiences. She has worked for some of the most renown architectural firms including Bing Thom Architects in Vancouver, Richard Wengle Architect in Toronto, and Burka Varacalli Architects in Toronto.  For more than twenty-five years, she has designed and managed numerous residential projects, including high-end custom homes, townhouses and high-rise condominiums in the Great Toronto Area for some of the most successful developers such as Tridel, Aspen Ridge, and Remington Homes. Carol also designed and managed some of the large-scale mixed-use buildings in China. She established JIN Architect in 2007, with focus on high-end custom home and cottage projects in both architectural and interior design, as well as project management. She is fluent in both Mandarin and English, and has managed to infuse eastern design sensibilities with western building technologies and aesthetics in her diversified portfolio.
